For councils
A local waste prevention and reuse scheme, running in Casteau and around.
The problem
A share of what reaches the container park is still usable: bricks from a finished job, branches, grass clippings, furniture, crates, toys. These materials enter a treatment channel for lack of a place to meet at village scale.
Every tonne costs the council in transport, in treatment and in levy.
The solution
A local exchange for materials still in use, in six streams. A resident posts what they no longer need, another reserves it and collects it. No payment, no logistics, no labour on the council’s side.
Circular economy at the scale where it actually works: between neighbours, on foot or with a trailer, with no intermediate transport.
What is measured
Twelve indicators, computed continuously, with no manual entry: residents signed up and active, listings posted, reserved and collected, conversion rate, median time to reservation, distances, volumes by stream, CO₂ avoided.
The central figure is kilos returned to circulation per 1,000 inhabitants per month. A communal report is generated automatically on the first of each month, in HTML and CSV, ready for environmental reporting.
What it costs today
Nothing. Circule is a pilot, free for residents and for the council alike, and no payment goes through it.
The service currently covers 10 km around Casteau. Deploying another commune takes a day, with its own instance, its own database and its own figures.
